Though there is a language barrier in China, the tip to getting around is knowing how to read the subway map. As long as you know how and know which train to transfer and get off, you're good to go anywhere in China. (It also helps if you know how to speak the language OR know some friends living withing the area.)
If you have seen the movie of Jackie Chan and Will Smith's son, where he touched the round ornament at the Forbidden/Imperial Palace gates, I actually saw the real thing. Nothing special, should I say. But the history beneath the palace is worth "walking" around.

Below is one the beautiful pavements in the Imperial Garden. This is inside the corridors of the Palace. It is considered as one of the oldest gardens.
This (see photo below) is one the MANY vendors situated outside the Great Wall.
The Great Wall of China is one the famous attractions in Beijing, and it is a must-visit tourist spot. There are 3 main sections when climbing up. We were dropped off at Mutianyu Great Wall. It connects Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east.

We rode a cable car going up. |

Quote for the Day: "Photography is never more strong in its emotional appeal or in the authority of its statement than when recording incidents in the life of man or man's reaction to the life around him. Here is one province where it can be said with some certainty that the camera does not lie. It cannot afford to try." - Norman Hall
